Birthday Summit
Fun mid-morning ascent up the North Rib--classic sierra granite. Great to be on top for my 32nd birthday and look across the bowl to Mt Williamson--our goal for the next day.
Climbed with my father AND his samoyed dog. My first 14'er.

Day Hike
Shepard's pass is a pretty brutal day-hike. I ascended the Northwest Ridge which is long and unexciting. The more direct route from the 2nd lake (east of the ridge) is a much better way to go.
Didn't have a good info on how to exit from the Rib to the summit ridge, but hundreds of footsteps at the very top of the Rib (at its left side as you go up) guided me nicely. The register is completely full; whoever goes there next, please bring another notebook! Took me 5 and a half hours (including a long stay at the top) for the entire trip, from a base camp at Shepherd Pass. Did Williamson the next day.

Smokey and Chokey
Did the north rib. Started out with a hint of fire smoke in the air. I summited at 1300 to see a wall of smoke coming from the southwest. By the evening. visibility was down to 1/2 to 1 mile. It would have otherwise been a supremely clear sky. Fun easy climb.

Ascent left of North Rib
Wow - what a long hike. So much elvation gain and loss before you even reach Shepard's Pass. But from here, climbed some beautiful Class III/IV route just north of the East Face or actually, just left of the North Rib, where the vertical east face drops off.

Two day trip with Pratyush and others. 4 of us climbed the slopes beside the NW ridge, then scrambled the class 3 ridge to the summit. Great, consolidated snow (except on the hike out!)
climbed via NW ridge. Took the summit ridge early on for some fun ridge scrambling!

North Rib
First peak on an 8 day trip around the Kings Kern Divide. Went from Anvil Camp to Shepherd Pass, dropped the pack, and scooted up the North Rib. Took around 3hrs round trip from the pass. The Rib is mostly class 2, although you can do as much class 3 as you like, and I recommend descending it as well.
Solo day hike up the N. Rib. It took me 15 hours car to car. It was a very windy day. This was the least amount of time I have ever spent on a summit due to the wind forcing me to descend.

fun
Tried to link up with a Williamson day hike previously, no luck. Had to get back in there to get Tyndall-enjoyed the peak-Sean and I observed a large smoking rock falling down at lightning speed

North RibNice side trip on my way to the Williamson Bowl. Fantastic views, perfect day.
The slabs to the right of the rib proper were free of snow and much nicer than the rib itself. Class 2-3 ish in approach shoes.
