Mountain House trail. Rocky, somewhat steep in sections with rivulets at times too. If weather is crystal clear, can see Boston, perhaps Mt Greylock if you squint hard enough. Plenty of hawk watchers at this time of year at summit as well.

Hike or Bike
I have hiked and bike this many times. Hiked usually on the Pine Hill Trail, even once with snowshoes in winter. Short steep hike each way with good views at the top. About 1 mile each way with about 600 feet of elevation gain. Popular cycling and skiing hill too.

Mountain Home trail
Twenty five minutes from the trailhead on the main road to the summit tower. The views from the top were surprisingly good for such a short altitude mountain including a clear view of Monadnock to the north/ northwest.

Quick fun hike
Took Stage Coach to Harrington trails, which has been described as the most challenging (fun!) trail to take to the summit. Not sure about the other trail but this one was quite rocky, which ups the fun factor for me considerably. On the way, I started on Mountain House to Jack Frost to High Meadow and Echo Lake. High Meadow would have been fun on the way too, although not as much scrambling as Harrington. Nice view from the top.

Before the blizzard of 2013
In Boston on business, had half a day before my plane flight. Made short, fun hike up snowy and icy slopes, but recent dryness had left large sections of bare dirt. No friction issues in my hiking boots. Temp at 15 degrees F. Beautiful, calm and clear day. The next day, Boston would get slammed with two feet of snow, but by then I was safe at home in Arizona :)

Backyard Mountain
I have hiked to the top many, many times! And skied for years there. Even biked to the top once. Grew up just a mile away. The last few hikes we wanted more of a challenge so start further away, such as Leominster State Forest and take the Midstate over to the lodge and then hike up from there, back down to our parked car on Mountain Road. Today we noticed the old tower has been removed, and new tower has a raised base for viewing or relaxing on the benches. Still no water or restrooms at the top.
