Visp - Tasch - Zermatt
APR. 05. 2008. My french friend Heloise and I drove from Chamonix, France to Visp and spent a night in the car in order to catch the earliest train from Tasch to Zermatt the next day. We got to
Zermatt (1,620 m/5,315 ft) around 9:00 am, a town located north of the Matterhorn in the German-speaking section of the canton. It was only about 10 km from the border with Italy.

Once in Zermatt, we walked through the town. Zermatt is a very touristic town, full of luxurious stores, ski shops most of them. It was something very new for me. All those beautiful houses looked like made of chocolate, and the mountains... wow... really amazing!

Zermatt... mountain houses!
After walking up the last hill at the end of the town, I couldn't believe what was before my eyes... the big Matterhorn, a mountain I had seen it just in pictures of magazines and in films.
I felt so excited of being there and I eagered to get the closest possible to it.
