Overview


Bric froid is one of the highest and easiest summit arround Queyras valley .
The summit is situated on the French-Italien border. Two sides of this pyramid are italian (NW and NE), one side is french (south side)The Italian name of the mountain is Punta Ramiere. This is the main summit of a small savage chain continuing to the north direction in Italy.
The main interest of Bric Froid ascend is the view from the summit (one of the nicest of the all Alps). This summit is to avoid if you are not sure to have a very clear atmosphere (the best is to have a north wind).

Routes overview


Main route:
Difficulty: For good hikers, by good weather.
Start point, Le roux (small village) 1735 m
Mid point, Col des Thures on the Italian border, 2797m (on a path, stiff ascend 3h)
To summit: Bric Froid 3302m, (navigate with the map a little bit on the italien side it's easier than on the border ridge, 2h)

Total time to go and come back: 8-9h for 1570 Hm. Its recommended to start very early to avoid to hike under the sun the first 3 hours.

Ripa Valley


Very nice valley on the Italian side of the mountain. One of the wildest valley in the all Alps. Accessible with a dirt track (no tared road). there is no village there only a few houses.
There are 12 summits higher than 3000m arround this valley.

Bric Froid - Punta Ramiere - group


this Chain is 10 km long, borded by Ripa Valley on the NE side and borded by Thuras valley on the SW side all the chain is more than 3000m high even the passes.
