Overview

The Signal de Botrange is the highest point in Belgium, located in the High Fens (Hautes Fagnes in French), at 694 metres (2,277 ft). It is the top of a broad plateau, and a road crosses the summit, passing an adjacent café. In 1923, the six-metre-high Baltia tower(signal) was built on the summit to allow visitors to reach an altitude of 700 m. The signal is just next to a parking place, but is is the highest point of Belgium.

In 1804 a first tower was build for cartografic measuring. In 1899 this tower was replaced by a 30m one, build by the germans to guard the border of belgium. This tower was removed in 1924.A stone tower built in 1934 reaches 718 m. and still remains.

At the height of winter the site is used as the start of a number of cross-country skiing routes

Close to the signal is a nature centre were a lot of hikes start.

Children

Children refers to the set of objects that logically fall under a given object. For example, the Aconcagua mountain page is a child of the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits.' The Aconcagua mountain itself has many routes, photos, and trip reports as children.
