Overview

A tiny mountain by any standard, not even deserving of the name mountain in everyone's eyes, this tiny hill beats out a lot of the high peaks any day on view. Without the fire tower the view is stunning, a look over moriah, and lake Champlain to the smaller mountains in and around shroon lake, westward to a partial view of the dixes, and to the north Rockey peak ridge over the trees. a view to die for, from a hill this small unheard of!!! Then you have a fire tower, from the top the great range to marcy, nippletop, dial, noonmark, hurricane, green mountians of Vermont, jay range and many, many more show themselves. This view could be the best in the high peaks area, being so small the other mountians look big, but high enough to see everything.

with that said you need to invest a full 10-15 minits to climb this peak, on a old service road to the tower, and cell tower site. Realy no effort is needed to climb this peak, so why not? its a good post to survey what to climb next.

The Trail along the service road goes steady up hill at an easy grade, it passes the cell tower on belfry, then turns into a grassy road before reaching the tower, and a very very short scramble, .3 miles from the road.

The Trailhead is easy to miss, their is no parking area for this peak, but their is a state trail sign on the side of the road by a iron gate, and i pile of rocks that make the trail head appear as a gravel pit. Park well off the side of the road so you dot get hit by passing cars near yhe trailhead

one relay cool thing is this peak actually has a colvin bold left on it, something usually raided and defaced. (at lease for us surveying type it is)

the only negative thing i can say about belfry in my visit is black flies.

the view rating in my eyes gets 100/100

note belfry is on private land so stick to the trail and don't mess around at the cell tower, the fire tower is just past this site
