Rank: Sneva Peak is Colorado’s 1178th highest ranked peak.
Prominence: 342 ft.

Sneva Peak rises near I-70 a few miles to the north of Copper Mountain Ski area in north/central Colorado. To the west, a 11900 ft saddle known as Uneva Pass connects Sneva Peak to Point 12363 ft on the southern ridgeline of Uneva Peak. Sneva Peak is otherwise not connected to any other mountains. Its western slopes descend close to 3000 ft to reach the bottom of Tenmile Canyon where I-70 runs.

Uneva Pass can be reached via Gore Range Trail, a long trail that starts on I-70, goes through Uneva Pass and then continues north along the length of the Gore Mountain Range. From Uneva Pass, Sneva Peak can be reached via easy grassy slopes.

From the summit of Sneva Peak, you will have great views of the peaks of the Gore and Tenmile Mountain Ranges. Dillon Lake along with I-70 and parts of the Copper Mountain Ski Area will also be in good view.

Getting There

Direction to Gore Range Trailhead:

Drive west on I-70 to Exit 196 Vista Point Scenic Rest Area (this exit is accessible only from the westbound lanes of I-70). Go to the southern parts of the rest area and find the trailhead sign.

Please note that the first 0.75 miles of the trail parallels I-70 until it reaches the Exit 195 ramp. You will find No Parking signs immediately in front of the trail on this ramp. To save the 0.75 mile hike, some people park on dirt pull-offs on this ramp but you are much better off parking at the designated parking area at the Vista Point.

Red Tape

No fees or permits needed for day hikes.

Children

Children

Children refers to the set of objects that logically fall under a given object. For example, the Aconcagua mountain page is a child of the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits.' The Aconcagua mountain itself has many routes, photos, and trip reports as children.
