OK, so if you had to pick ONE Pasayten Peak to do, which would it be? And remember, one of my future vacations may be riding on your response......................
One peak? Hard to say since usually doing Pasayten peaks requires three days (or more) to be fully enjoyed. So I can give you an idea of the best region to do and it would be the Cathedral area. However, I haven't been everywhere in the wilderness. The Lago Group is also beautiful.
Thanks for another great page entry Klenke. I also posted on the climber's log (we climbed the 5.5 N Ridge route on 8-8-11), but here is a bit of what I said there, "The best part was topping out and exploring the long South ridge (main summit and beyond) for a couple of hours. It is a beautiful mountain. The worst part was seeing the horse damage to the alpine meadows on the descent (we hiked out down the main ampitheatre to the SW and around to Cathedral Lake and Pass on the main trail) - I was shocked to see people ride their horses into such a fragile zone, and then don't even stay on the trails..."
I felt Ampitheatre is a rather grand mountain with large sheer rock faces on the NE and East (as well as the N ones overlooking Cathedral Lake.), having great technical climbing potential, and thought the name should have been something like The Cross (as it appears from Cathedral Pk summit)

Untitled CommentNice page. Do you mean pika instead of "pica"? Pica is an eating disorder; Pika a fuzzy animal.

Untitled CommentOoops. Yes, pika. Thanks. Will change.
My spell-check doesn't know pika so I assumed when it wanted to change to pica it knew what I was talking about.
I think maybe I suffer from pica -- an abnormal disposition to bite the dust when rock climbing.
