Nice to see...

another Nevada one posted here at SP. Was there a John Vitz or MacLeod/Lilly register on Buckskin? Just curious. Also, is this outside the Humboldt National Forest? Again, just curious.

Re: Nice to see...

Hi Dean. I didn't find a summit register although I looked for a long time. But then again I didn't find one on Pueblo either and there's certainly one there. As my wife says, I look with my eyes closed.

My map shows Pueblo well inside the HTNF.

A question for you. Is there anything I should attach the page to? You and your pals are all CHP and prominence etc experts. Does Buckskin belong anywhere?

Cheers, Martin

Hi Martin, yes, Buckskin has 1363 feet of prominence. See this page for more: Buckskin Mtn For more on prominence, go HERE.

Nevada is suddenly getting attention with your page, Caleb's page and my pages on Chokecherry and So. Pahroc. Watch for another one, Buck Mountain, which will be posted soon. : )

I gave this one serious thought

On my last Nevada foray, didnt bring any maps for it though. A very prominent looking mountain, I was surprised this didnt make the P2K cutoff. Nice page btw.

Re: I gave this one serious thought

Thanks for the nice words.

To be absolutely honest, apart from the Garmin map on my GPS, I didn't either.

I couldn't get to Granite because FR084 was closed but above where I was stopped was this lovely sharp peak with a likely looking route up the west side. My GPS told me it was Buckskin Mountain, so up I went. The product is what you see before you :)

Being a foreigner, I'm not at all sure if Buckskin belongs on any list P2K or otherwise - so I've asked the maestro - Dean - for his input.

Cheers, Martin
