You really don't want to mess with that part of the mountain. The only way you will get near NORAD is if you grow breasts and become a Denver Bronco Cheerleader on a USO tour:) They recently got a VIP tour. Otherwise, you will have automatic weapons pointed and probably shot at you;)
The trailhead is maybe 50 feet behind you on the east side of the road as you get to the parking area, which is across the road from the entrance to the camp/horse riding thing. Specifically, the trail starts up the gravel bank/burm and immediately to the left. There seem to be two trails starting here, the other one heading straight uphill, and the McNeil trail starting flat.
