Deb...

Thanks for the recent vote! I heard you went to South America.
Can you please tell us what exactly happened on Cone peak?
Did you get in trouble with a landowner or something? What
happened to your camera? You're apparently one who doesn't like
to slow down during your retirement years. That's pretty awesome.

Re: Deb...

Hi Larry -
It was horribly windy and quite cold when we hit up Cone Peak; considered it minor training for Patagonia. pfffft We tried a 4th class ascent but ran into too much ice so the trip up took way too long and the trail seemed to go forever. After summiting and seeing oodles of "ducks" heading south, even though I found literature stating "do not try to ascend via south" we left via south in order to shorten the time spent exiting. We had to skirt private property with a sign bragging that they will shoot whoever trespasses....we were very stealthy in our bright red and pink jackets!
And yes, we just came back from Patagonia a couple of weeks ago. An absolutely wonderful excursion!

Re: Deb...

So it's all water under the bridge now, right??? I had a
similiar experience in Washington state. I was in what I
thought was "trailhead parking," then, all of a sudden a man
appears out of nowhere and starts to pound his fist on the hood of my car. He said we were trespassing on private property.
There were NO signs! Eventually, the Forest did put in a dirt
parking area for those using the trail. I can't understand why
some people get so upset. All we were doing is eating granola
bars and taking pictures of a waterfall. Thanks for the memories!
Did you ever get your camera back???
