I'd forgotten I'd already added the Disappointment-Middle Pal Traverse to the Middle Pal page. Guess that saves me some work now that you put up this page. I suppose I owe you one now. :-)
Disappointment does look neat, I want to try the Middle Pal/Dissappoinment combo. That ridgeline looks really gnarly, is there any possibility of a Disappointment-Middle Pal-Norman Clyde traverse, or is that way too much?
It would be doable, but with a rope (unless your name's Croft or Reardon). The section between Middle Pal and Norman Clyde looks the toughest, I think around 5.8 if I remember right.
I plan to dayhike Norman Clyde next year via the usual NNE Ridge... but it would be way cool after that to go back and do the full Disappointment-Norman Clyde traverse, keeping to the ridge. Perhaps I can talk you into both? (The traverse might require a bivy, which is the only reason I'd want to make sure I dayhike Clyde Peak via its "easy" route first). Bob and I dropped way down on the traverse between Disappointment and Middle Pal, which is the way Secor shows to go, but it would be nice to go back and follow the crest next time.
I'd be interested in doing a Middle Pal -> Norman Clyde dayhike. Not so much interested in the bivy option though, so I don't think I could add the Disappointment section to that within the same day.
Probably just a few short sections. The trick would be to find out more details such as whether one direction is preferable (perhaps just raps are needed). Or just go and find out. Anything pioneered by Eichorn and Dawson is bound to be interesting. :-)
I would be down for one or both of those options. If Curt came with us, we could do two groups of two to make roping up quicker on the short rope up sections. I have been interested in Norman Clyde since you suggested it this summer.

Untitled CommentNice one. I've always noticed that all the Dissapointment Peaks I know of are very beautiful.

Untitled CommentThe peak does seem to be a bit misnamed these days. I was thrilled to summit!

Untitled CommentHmm, a dayhike of just that section sounds more enticing than a bivy at 14k. I wonder how much of that ridge would require roping up?
