This was one of my favorite places as a kid. This whole range of little mountains is just too cool. Hill country where you don't expect to see anything bigger than a low knoll. And Dowdell's Knob is probably the best of these low mountains. I did lots of hiking there with my dad when I was a child.
It is a beautiful area, and I don't think I would have checked it out if you had not told me about it!
I went there with a friend of mine, and after doing the loop trail, wandered over to Callaway Gardens. A great day to be out there, and I want to go back and do all of the Pine Mountain Trail now.
