Way to go Bigwilly, this is a very good page. Nice Overview and 3 photos is perfect. I wasn't sure this big grassy hill would ever find a home on SP but at least you did a good job with the page.
Nice page. Keep building it. One big thing is that you need to make some kind of distinction between your Green Mountain and another Green Mountain farther west in Colorado that was just posted on May 1. What are the odds of that happening?!? Could be pretty confusing, especially since they are pretty close in elevation. Let me know when you do and I can update my vote.
Wonderful page! This is an amazing area as you said "where the prairies meet the mountains." I can remember driving in and out of the mountains past this grassy summit just like it was yesturday. Great page and thanks for sharing!
Another good one. As shanrickv says, there was another Green Mountain (Black Canyon area) added a few days ago. Furthermore, there is another one up in Boulder which hosts the famous Flatirons (if you want to learn to climb, this is a great place). All these Green Mountains are going to get confusing. Perhaps this one could be Hayden Green Mountain or something? Dunno, it's getting confusing. Perhaps we should name them by county or something.
Also, I think your coords are off again. I don't know what's going on with your copy of Topo, but the coordinates are consistently south west of correct. Is this the Green Mountain you're talking about?
Thanks for your nice vote. I've changed the title to hopefully make this distinction.
That is indeed the Green Mountain I'm talking about. I'm not sure what the problem is with my copy of TOPO, but I'll customer support to see what they say.
Normally I would delete my material seen here but since it is built in to the route pages intricately here and I would rather not change that, I'll have to leave them be. I will, however, put links up in the appropriate areas to your page and add some material here. I never thought Green Mountain should have its own page or I would have added it (just more work). Glad you went ahead and did it, though. Looks good!
Nice page. I like having these day hike peaks on summitpost. Like a previous poster said, it's great to know about hikes like these that you can do for a workout or when you are time-crunched.

Untitled CommentThanks for your nice vote. As I keep working on the page I will try to make links that connect pages to the other pages in the area.

Untitled CommentI encourage addition of the foothills. They are the kind of climbs you can do after work, or for a 2-hour workout on a weekend.
