Re: Alternate approach from Logan Pass

Thanks for pointing that out. I had read about that approach in the guidebook but didn't think of it when making this page. Tomorrow, I will add this in for Iceberg and Ahern. Tonight, I'm just whipped; a friend and I just got back from a 5-peak traverse in the Bitterroots that was about 17 miles with almost 6000' of climbing. I'm feeling a little lazy!

A sore one, though. Today we mostly sat around, and it's back to brutality tomorrow.

I made those additions, by the way.

Nice to have this mountain on SP...

...good job, Bob! As an FYI, occasionally the parts of the Highline Trail that don't melt open, are dynamited open! That may well be the case this year...but that doesn't usually happen until August.

Re: Nice to have this mountain on SP...

Thanks, Vernon. I've wanted to climb this peak for several years now, and doing so this time has been a definite highlight. The manager at Granite Park did tell me about dynamiting that portion of the trail, which might be the spot they call the Ahern Drift, but he thought they might not bother this year with all the snow on the closer, hugely popular trails.

See you tonight at the steakhouse!
