Winter access

Prepare for a long ski or snowshoe in during the winter unless you have a snowmobile.

Mount Catherine is one of the easier of the Pavant Peaks to reach in winter (though still longer than the route described on the page).

In winter you can drive to the big bend in the Chalk Creek road and hike, ski, or snowshoe (depending on snow conditions) up to White Sage Flat, then to North Fork Chalk Creek, and then either up a spur ridge or up Reece Canyon.

The lower part of the route is sometimes trail-broken by locals, but usually not the upper part.
