Nice page. You should add it to the White Mtns grouping.

Good page, one thing I noticed though, in the Red Tape section, you say "no fees required", but apparently there is a day use fee of $3.00 per person, or $50.00 for a season pass. see here

Thanks for the vote and info. Is the fee something new? When I was there, it was not needed. I also see that Mt. Lincoln is within the White Mountains National Park, not a State Park. But, if the trailhead is in a State Park................

Hmm. I will research it. Do you know if the trailhead is not within the Nat'l Park?

I'll keep checking it out, been a few years since I was there.

The state park covers a narrow strip along either side of Route 93 (ie, up to the ridgeline of the Old Bridle Path). The rest of the area (including the summit) is part of the White Mountain National Forest. The summit also marks the western boundary of the Pemigewasset Wilderness, an area within the WMNF where some additional restrictions on camping, etc apply.

The usual WMNF parking fee is $3/day (less for advance multi-day passes), but the Lafayette Campground trailhead is within the state park, and though I'm not certain, I don't recall paying a fee.

PS following the link Rob provided: the only spot in Franconia Notch State Park where a fee is charged is Echo Lake. The other lots (including Lafayette Campground trailhead) are free.
