I'm planning a 4-state highpointing trip in May (ME, NH, VT, NY) and noticed that Mt. Mansfield trails are closed through the Saturday of Memorial Weekend (05/23/09). Can I definitely plan to be there on Sunday (05/24/09)? Is there any chance they could extend the close date? Is there any chance they could open early? I would prefer to do it on Saturday, May 23rd, but I will certainly obey the rules. Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

Artic Tundra?I think it is more correct to call the tundra on this mountain "alpine tundra" since there is no permafrost in the region.
