Nice page Will but I would add in the red tape section the new rules for the trip permits.

Cheers

Nice page but Mount Washington is in New Hampshire not Vermont which has no high mountains.

VT is very mountainous

VT has the Green Mountains, including 5 of New England's 67 four-thousand footers- Mt. Mansfield, Camel's Hump, Killington, Abraham and Ellen.

Granted, they're nothing compared to peaks out West, but they're still worth a dayhike.

re-read and looked through more thoroughly. I initially thought there was not enough trail detail included.

Great job on such an awesome place!

Winter Hiking

I am interested in doing a winter ascent of Mount Marcy. Two or three friends and I would be looking to do this anywhere from December to March.

What do you think would be the best time do this? What Equipment is necessary? Crampons, snowshoes, beacons or radios?

We would be intermediate experienced backpackers and outdoorsmen.

Anyone have experience doing a winter ascent?

Re: Winter Hiking

I suggest posting your questions on the Eastern US discussion forum.

Yes, it's been done in winter, including by me.
