Paul,

Thanks for taking this on and doing the much need improvements.

You might consider incorporating the additions into the text rather than leaving them as is.

Much better now.

The West Ridge route could really use a re-write as well.

That's true, but I didn't get control of it.

Since zoroastr calls it "West Ridge-Direct Variation" maybe you could put up a plain old "West Ridge" route.

Sure. I can use the additional info. comment I added last year (under direct variation page) as the starting point.

Paul,

thnx.

I'm not really sure if the "Direct Variation" really contains enough info. to find this direct line? what do you think?

I think zoroastr's route should be deleted. But I'm not the one to make that call. It's so badly written only a fool would use it to do the route.

Camping in the Basin

I don't have photos, and its been six years, but I distictly remember a nice camp spot in the basin at the base of Thomson that easily accommodated a couple of tents on bare ground.

Alternate Short cut 2

I took Alternate Shortcut 2 up to Kendall this past week. I am not sure if its really the much "shorter" in that it takes a while to bushwhack. While I haven't tried it yet I think a better alternative would be to stay on the commonwealth trail up through the campsites and at the last creek crossing (which has some big logs) turn right up the creek and then pick up the last big talus field and up onto the ridge.

(BTW overall this is a great posting, so much better than Kendall and Red Mountain's posts)
