can you hike this from the road?

If you do not want to offroad, how long is the hike if you get out at the 11,700 point, before the offroading begins?

Re: can you hike this from the road?

Thank you for your vote.

I am not sure I understand what you are asking. You can drive any car to Montezuma (10300 ft). After Montezuma , you will need 4WD (or you can start to hike). The road goes to say 30 ft below the summit. The 11700 ft point is only where the trees end, otherweise the road does not change beyond that. I did not measure the distance from 11700 ft to the summit but I would guess it would be less than half, say two miles.

Re: Hiking without 4wd

Without 4WD you will start in Montezuma (like I did). The one way distance (per my GPS) was 4.3 miles.

You should put that on the page

You should put that on the page. I figure people would want to know. My vote is still 10/10

Re: You should put that on the page

That has been on the main page ("Overview", 2nd paragraph) since the beginning. I will probably put it in the "Getting There" section too soon. Thanks.
