Me too!!! And there are soooo many other quality climbs in the Sawtooths of Idaho (and the rest of the state) - can't believe how few are listed for this state on SP??!!!
We've tried to research the route before heading out there but found the info. lacking. The books are not very detailed esp. regarding the descent. I guess that's why I got into all this anal level of detail in route description.
The peak is I think the best/most fun one we've done to date. I think a strong climbing party could do this car to car as an overnight climb (some folks here on SP could easily do it in a single push I'm sure). We took 2.5 days (Sat. morning to Mon. noon) which was a leisurely pace - pretty miserable the first day or even first two days due to altitude effects (drove there Friday/Sat. thru. the night from Portland, mean elevation 70 feet a.s.l).
It's probably our favorite climb to date. Spectacular approach, fun rock climbing, and an unfrogettable summit pitch (OK, the miniepic on the descent was not that fun).
Thank you again for all the good votes on all of my mountain pages. I'm in the process of going through your photos and they are all quite beautiful. I was very impressed by your waterfall shots (Rooster Rock page submissions) from the Columbia River Gorge. That's our neighborhood - we've lived in Portland, OR for the past 3 yrs. and yet were too preoccupied with bagging summits to notice these treasures. Thanks for reminding us of the beauty of our area.
We had only one day for the Columbia River Gorge - it's too less for the beautiful area. But the short hikes to the unique waterfalls were very impressive. Especially the longer Eagle Creek Trail with its absolutely spectacular Punchbowl Falls.

Untitled CommentBest weekend getaway I've seen for a while. I was amazed that you got this far on a weekend. Looked for War Bonnet by Pingora
but after reading found out about this Idaho peak
lat 44.0826º, longitude -115.0062ºon the county line? Looks like an amazing peak with wild rappels.
