....the road to Disappointment is paved.....
Trail 2N52 to the top at 6:30am was casual, cool walk up 1200 feet to the Disappointment. Added with a summit of Mount Markham, Mount Lowe and San Gabriel Peak in that order gave me a 12 mile, 3,350 feet of elevation, excellent hike.

not disappointing!
I've gone to Mt D. two ways:
My first ascent was to combine it with Mt Lowe, Echo, Inspiration Point, and San Gabriel as a long day hike from the top of Lake Ave. I think that one ended up being 25+ miles total and while it was beautiful it was long.
I've also done this mountain from the small parking area with the gate just past Red Box. There's a steep single track trail from here but I have always decided to take the paved road and to make it a trail jog. It's only a few miles up this one way and its best to combine this with an ascent of its neighbor, San Gabriel. Just be careful of the poodle dog up there!

Nice little rocky outcropping with awesome views just south of the radio towers, extremely easy hike (the last part is just a road), peak 1 of 2 for the day.

Mt Wilson RoundupPeak 4 of 7 in the Mt Wilson area. Just like Markham & San Gabriel, couldn't find a summit register. Really nice views!

Might as well since it's next to San GabrielIt doesn't take that much more effort to get there from San Gabriel Peak...don't be lazy...plus there's a cool helipad!

The RoadHike this one with the extended family. Very mellow pace on the fire road that seems to meander more than it needs. Great view from the top.
