Pima Canyon Route
Started up the Pima Canyon Trail at 5am with Bryce. First few miles were solid and straightforward, but trail becomes a little harder to follow after that. Still, great trail with amazing views and morning-long shade. No complaints. Little loose and slippery towards the burn area on top, but all doable. 1 other from Finger Rock Trail summited after us. Didn’t see anyone on our trail until we were a couple of miles from trailhead. Beautiful summit. Amazing views. Happy hike.
Finger Rock Trail. Kind of steep in the beginning. Felt crappy initially, but then felt great. Good trail up. It's a bitch on the way down.

Finger Rock Canyon
South route via the Finger Rock Canyon. Quite a variety of flowers in bloom, especially in the first 2000 feet of elevation gain. Very pleasant temperature on the summit.

Great hike in the Catalinas
Started before sunup to avoid the heat, which was in the 90s already. Made top in 4 hours, down in 3. Great hike, steep but never too bad, and amazing views from the overlook. Tagged about 6 different rocks and hilltops to be sure of "summitting" properly. My first really long hike in the Catalinas.

Hands down, this is one of my favorite hikes in the Tucson area. I love the diversity of plant life, from saguaro at the bottom to ponderosa pine at the top. The views from the overlook near the summit are just obscene. Enjoyed lunch up there, then headed back down into dreadful (for me) heat. Poppies were blooming like crazy!

One of many....
this is such a great training hike....after 10 weeks hiking in the Balkans, it was a breeze and felt great, despite the heat!
On aborted first try got lost by dropping below the trail,
but have hiked it 3 times since. The Kimball Kings are impressive - I think Jerry Schuster hiked Kimball 50+ times ?

Triple
When I lived in tucson that was my favorite hike... did it 20+ times to the top and hundreds of times part way, just for the workout. Best day was doing it three times in 13hours, 20 minutes. I hope to repeat that effort in January 2009... my sixtieth year celebration.

Easy Money
Completed 2 of 3 attempts. Easy hike, but my first attempt was in the summer.. went through all my water in what seemed like 10 seconds.

Pima Canyon Trail
No doubt a leg-burner, but a beautiful hike. Going from saguaros to pines is a sweet experience.

Kimball in 1995 !
I was checking out the results of the flooding
that occurred in 1993. These are some awesome
mountains due north of Tucson. The Pusch Ridge
Wilderness had a large herd of bighorn sheep back
in the 1990s. Too bad I didn't capture one on camera.

Have done this grueling hike a few times
The first time I did this Josh and I started in Pima Canyon around 2am and ascended to the peak. Came down the Finger Rock Trail and then walked/ran Tucson city streets back over to Pima Canyon Trailhead parking lot.
