Congrats definitely an awesome hike for your first high peak. Something you might want to think about - 40 pounds is a lot for a daypack. I usually try to keep my overnight or two night packs at 40. You probably would have been feeling stronger near the top with a lighter pack. Just an idea, but congrats! Enjoy the High Peaks!
I've already thought about it actually. I brought way too much stuff. To make matters worse, I have an Arc'teryx Bora 80 backpack and the lid detaches and can be used as a light belt pouch/summit pack. If I had been set up correctly, I could have dropped my pack and just worn the light summit pack up to the top with my camera. Next time I'll definitely be climbing lighter and faster.
I usually read these long reports in a couple of installments, but I couldn't put your's down. Reminded me of my first mountain hiking experiences. Congrats on your accomplishment!
Thank you sir. With all of your Adirondack accomplishments, your congrats means alot to me. Hopefully my skills and tactics will improve and I can pursue more challenging mountains/routes successfully in the future.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed my report.
I remember well the feeling of wanting to summit "something, anything". I wish you well in your quest. It is alot of hard work, but the feeling of stepping onto the summit is a unique experience you will most likely become addicted to.

Great work!Hilarious commentary, a great read. I hope that on my first summit of "something, anything" this summer I can report as well as you have here.

ADKI love the Adirondacks. Some of the best hikes I've taken.
