Mt. of the Holy Cross and...

Mt. of the Holy Cross and Notch Mountain from the east. These are tailings dumps left over from the Climax Molybdemum (sp?) mine, and this site is one of the largest Superfund cleanup sites in the region. This unfortunate scar will be with Colorado for centuries. You are closer to Pacific, Atlantic, Fletcher and Drift Peaks more than you are Quandary Peak. The view is along Highway 24, north of Tennessee Pass. A certifiable contradiction-man's oppressive destruction of the land in contrast with one of the most pristine places in the nation, the Holy Cross Wilderness.
