Climbed the Wasatch County HP, Murdock Mountain, Bald Mountain and Reids Peak. Lovely day in the Uintas. Pretty doable little loop. The hardest portion is descending to the saddle from Bald and then going up Reids. Choose your lines as you can keep it a class 2 or go all the way up to Class 4 on the ridge proper.

Skiing Murdock Mountain in May
2019 was a great winter and it didn't stop snowing until June. On May 17th, the Uintas received about 4" of new snow so we fired up our snowmobiles and headed out Mirror Lake Highway. When we got to the top, we explored around the base of Murdock scoping out safe lines and then took the sleds up to the summit. fall, yet winter
with WMC group (Akiko, Ray, Andee). It snowed the whole time - drifts up to knee deep. No horizon - couldn't find/identify the slope county highpoint.

Such an arduous journey!
Just kidding! Beautiful day, though. I recorded a video of utahguy058 pretending to be Julie Andrews and posted it on Instagram. I don't think we're friends anymore.
This was a beautiful sound of music moment. The hills were alive! Hit the Wasatch county highpoint on the way down. NBD! This is gorgeous views and worth the saunter to the top.

Lazy Day
It took longer to find the Wasatch Co HP than it did to get to the top. I spotted two bucks and a coyote though while I was consulting the topo map, so that was fun. It takes no time at all to get this summit and so I headed over to Bald Mountain and did that in an hour to round things out.

lazy Sunday morning
This was a fun little hike on a lazy Sunday morning. Found the Wasatch county highpoint then climbed up Murdock and then hiked over to Mt Cardwell. There were lots of snow fields but not enough to require snowshoes.

A long way in winter
2/23/2014
Started from the winter gate on the Evanston side at MM 48.7 and skied to the winter gate on the Kamas side at MM 14.6, making a side trip to Murdock along the way. The whole thing took 11 hours. The first 19 miles to Bald Mountain Pass had pretty crappy conditions, new snow, too warm, and rough skiing surface. Going down from the pass worked out well since we timed it so that the snow had a chance to refreeze. Conditions on Murdock were great with it just being a wee bit crusty and rocky.
3/11/2009
Skied from about MM 14.5 on the Mirror Lake Highway almost to MM 29, just before Bald Mt. Pass and then made a bee line for the summit. After doing this one, went over to Cardwell and then back to the highway at about MM 28. The whole think was about 32 miles RT and took 12 hours. It was a beautiful day, cold to start, about 5 degrees, but by 10:30 temps were quite pleasant. With a recent snowfall, the going was slow on the highway and I even had to break trail for awhile before the snowmobilers showed up.

Did Murdock and Cardwell after doing Scout Peak, Lofty Peak, and 10975.

Murdock
10/16/2013 From Bald Mountain Pass I worked my way up the west slopes to the summit of Murdock Mountain. On the way down I slowed down so I could find the Wasatch County Highpoint. Fairly easy to find the right area if you head directly west from the summit. There were a few cairns so I walked to them all, and all surrounding areas.

Easy Day
Nice little 3/4 mile scramble to top over boulders. Nothing much to this one. Was looking for the Wasatch county high point and decided to walk to the top of this guy to see what view it offered.

A bit belated
I was going to do this last year when i did Bald Mtn but my wife was feeling the effects of the altitude. So, I visited the peak on a trip to Mirror Lake. On the way home (after dark), we saw about thirty deer between Mirror Lake and Kamas. Drive carefully and alertly after dark in these mountains.
