After a bit too good a time hanging out in Hot Springs the night before did this first think in morning to beat heat. Note there is now a trail leading of sunset to this summit marked by signpost in middle of trail. Unremarkable but pleasant forest walk

Sunset Trail on Black Snake Rd.
parked at the Black Snake Rd trail head and headed up. Found the cairn and headed up to the summit. Found the benchmark and the register. Unfortunately the register had leaked and all the paper inside was saturated. I emptied out the water and, as I didn't have any paper, I left my business card with the date on it.
Hiked this one with my son, Lance while visiting Arkansas for the first time. We found the benchmark and the register. Earlier the same day, we visited the state hp, Magazine Mtn. and then traveled on to the cohp of Garland Co, Ouachita Pinnacle (where I got a flat tire in the rain but that's another story) and I uncovered the "Ouachita" benchmark after searching for a while.

Via Sunset Trail
My youngest son and I hiked to the top of the national park. There was a register on top with some notables signed in on previous dates. No views as it was drizzly but very comfortable temperature.

This and Neaby Hot Spring Mtn
Hiked around this and the top or adjacent Hot Springs Mountain on various trails. Not a very high mountain, but beautiful views of the surrounding area. --mark d.

Route Climbed: Sunset Trail Date Climbed: December 27, 2005A quick hike up the Sunset trial followed by a very brief bushwhack. There is a register at the USGS marker.
