Short and simple
I had been interested in this peak for a few years- you can actually get a glimpse of it driving on Trail Creek Road right as you're passing Big Fall Creek.
My opinion is that the difficulty is exaggerated. We arrived at the summit block with memorized directions of zig-zagging shelves. We looked at it and said, "this looks pretty easy; let's just try going straight up." And it was that simple- a really short class 3 section then steep class 2 to the top. I try to include my dog as often as possible and I was disappointed that I left her home that day for no reason.
We took advantage of the great scree-surfing conditions on the west face. From there the terrain back to car was decent, and was totally worth the shortcut because we made it summit to car in 90 minutes. Total trip was 5 hours with plenty of lounging on the summit.
I was all alone on the summit. I expected some cold winds to chase me off but I barely felt a breeze. It was a lovely day, saw 4 goats wandering around, took my time getting back down. Outrageously short hike. Good for a recovery.

Scenic and worthwhile
Nice hike with a terrific group. The scramble up the small summit block was fun. Great intro to the Boulders and views of named peaks all around. We took a couple wrong turns getting there: Take the road bearing to the left (of the marsh) that's in good condition. Park at its end.

fun outing
good times with the Idahosummits folks. My wife even came along. Saw several mountain goats. The peak is interesting but unfortunately covered in ball bearing sized scree (great for descending, terrible for going up). Clouds covered several of the nearby higher peaks.

Fun Day
Climbed this with the Idaho Summits crew. Fun scramble with a little of everything from trail hiking to class three scrambling. the weather was a bit questionable with wind, very light snow and a little sunshine for good measure. all and all a short fun day in the hills

Flying Ant Peak
Thanks to an outstanding SP route description, this was an easy peak to find. You earn this one and it is totally worth it. The route is really stunning and takes you over a variety of terrain, including a final class 3 push that feels a little hairball. Oddly, the peak was swarming with thousands of these strange bugs that looked like big flying ants. I will do this one again some day, bugs or not.

Out of the many mountains I have climbed, this may be my favorite, beautiful views capped with an outstanding climb to the top makes it a great day out.
