Northeast face - fun climb
Nice climb to a rarely visited peak. The summit log only showed one other hiking party this year (on 7/9/23). For all of 2022 it showed but one entry. Numerous trees down blocking the last mile of FR488. I parked near the bottom of the "horseshoe" loop of 488 and bushwhacked (~1 mi) to shortcut the loop. Not fun. On the return I just walked the road. At the end of 488 you will need to bushwhack about 1.1 mile to get to the peak. Hundreds of fallen trees along the route. Solo hike took under 5 hours, not bad for 68 years young.

One of my new favorites
Went up the NE slopes. Definitely no falling. Excellent peak! Awesome summit perch.
I've been trying to climb this peak for a few years, but just never made the time. After studying the Nipple Peak page, I had a pretty good idea of where I needed to go. FR 488 to 488.1C and follow to the end. Up the slope to the south east ridge. This ridge offered some of the best picture taking of Nipple peak. Along the ridge was fun and not technical. Ascented the peak from around the east side. Good, fun scrambling. Highly enjoyed the views. This climb offered some opportunity for map and compass skills, which I try to take advantage of when I can.
