Nice scrambling
We started from Long Lake, Niwot Ridge was really nice scrambling, it wasn't hard like I expect it, but still nice day in the mountains.

Ramp to Heaven
Niwot Ridge is a spectacular climb, but highly exposed if a thunderstorm rolls in. I have been on Niwot Ridge 3-5 times. On one of those climbs/hikes, I stayed up high too long and had to descend in an all-out thunderstorm with lightning and rain. I was happy to get below tree line.

Last summit of the day
Last summit of the day, after traversing all the way from Shoshoni.

Tour of the Basin
Up Queens Way to Apache, over to Dickers Peck (ran into some people I know who loaned me a harness and belayed me up). Then, up the North Face of Navajo, over to Niwot Ridge, and down Airplane Gully.
Niwot Ridge was a fun scramble, except I kept finding loose rock everywhere. Made my way over to Navajo and descended the gully and out the standard route.

Long Class 4 Traverse
Quick side trip? What?! Niwot Ridge is much more involved than what this page suggests. We did this after Shoshoni, Apache (via Kasparov traverse), and Navajo. Expecting easy scrambling, this is Class 3-4. Dropped into the basin just west of Long Lake to get some H2O from the stream.

Quick side trip
Nabbed this unranked summit after climbing Dickers Peck and Navajo Peak. Good views of the forbidden watershed.
