No Name Peak (Lentz Peak?)

No Name Peak (Lentz Peak?)

Looking north at the real (according to locals), un-labeled Lentz Peak that is just North-West of Big Cherry Lake and South-East of the USGS-(mistakenly?) labeled Lentz Peak. Cabinet Mountain Wilderness.

Un-named Peak

Actually this picture depicts one of my favorite climbs. The peak shown in this picture is believed to be the actual Lentz Peak. Locals suggest the USGS had it all wrong on the maps which is not uncommon for this area due to it's remoteness.

Re: Un-named Peak

I always thought that it was weird that this peak was "un-named" and the peak that's labeled "Lentz" is much shorter. I never figured it was just a labeling mistake by the USGS.

Lentz Peak

I've been up that mountain a couple times and plan another ascent tomorrow. I've been told by a legendary climber/scrambler/hiker from Noxon that this is, indeed, Lentz Peak. Whatever it's name it's a challenge to get to and the solitude up there makes it worth the hike.

Re: Lentz Peak

Thanks for the info. I've edited the description although it may need to be re-worded for clarity. How did your climb go?
