Ski ascent
Norse Peak is via the ridgeline from East Peak (pt 6654, a common descent run in the Crystal backcountry). We toured up Bullion Basin to the flat spot near the summit of East Peak, camped, then traversed the ridge the next morning though it could definitely be done in a day. We bagged the peak and skied the top few hundred feet before skinning back across the ridge and skiing out East Peak to the bottom. High avy and cornice potential in numerous places along the route.
No views to the west, but peek a boo views to the east through the clouds. Summitted first, then did a little loop down through the Basin Lake area. Wonderful hike!
is a love/hate. Love the peak, hate the mixed use trail and switchbacks with excessive runout.

Frigging Hot
With Sue and Luna. Very warm day. Spectacular views of Rainier. Swarm of ladybugs at the summit. We then hiked down to Basin Lake and waded in the ice cold water. Was a nice break but then a hot dusty hike back up. We didn't know the trails so we ended up doing a little cross country to find the way out of Jim Crow Basin. Good burgers at Cliffdropper in Packwood.

Norse Peak
Nice destination on a bluebird day. Saw absolutely no one on the entire hike. Summit a big buggy.

Winter Route
Snow conditions were quite firm for this time of year and surprisingly thin. Nonetheless, a very pleasant and scenic winter hiker.

Lots of snow on my first trip up Norse Peak. Have been up on top a few times since then, and it is always a nice hike - sometimes really dusty in the summer, though.

Lack of snow
Barely any snow on it for this time of year. Great shots of Rainier on yet another Sunday.
