Nice hike
Nice hike from Bear Gulch on a sunny spring day. Did the High Peaks route on return to check out the 'pinnacles' and to make it a complete day of hiking. The outhouse on the summit is pretty beaten up and in need of repair. Suggest anyone doing this is spring avoid the weekends when crowds overrun the Bear Gulch area (99% only go up to the reservoir through the cave).

Bear Gulch Trail
We were supposed to climb Junipero Serra but the Military had closed the only access road. After hours of driving around trying to find the non-existent alternative to the peak we settle on Pinnacles. What a great alternative to have. I was amazed by the park. The Bear Gulch Caves were incredible. The view from the peak was great and the trail was in great shape. Not too many people and the weather was fantastic. I can't wait to head back.

Bear Gulch Caves
Climbed a few days after winter storms. The caves were amazing, the water was thundering through them. Hit South Peak also. Clear day, views were stunning.

From Bear Gulch
The first time I've hiked up to North Chalone Peak. Great views! The manzanitas are blooming right now and attracting lots of bees. Every time I walked by one I could hear loud buzzing before I saw the bees. Pretty neat!

Condor Roost
Have climbed this one many times, usually by the standard route from Bear Gulch. Be sure to do the High Peaks trail while you are in the area. That's where the best scenery is in this park.

Summited in Fog
My plan was to do North and South Chalone, but the weather didn't cooperate. Anticipating the weather report of 70 and sunny, I wasn't quite prepared for 45 and windy with light mist at times. Views weren't too bad, but I expect on a clear day they are spectacular. Bailed on South Chalone this time, maybe I'll try again when its warmer. Decent workout, 3 hours up and down including time at the top and taking a ton of pictures on the way down.

Up and Down
Up and down through the bear gulch cave. Windy day, so all the smog and haze were blown away; good views. Passed on S Chalone this time.
Up via the Rim Trail from the east side (Bear Gulch) in 1h 40m. Snooze/lunch on top. Down to the High Peaks junction, up, along the High Peaks Trail and down Condor Gulch to the car.
Good workout, excellent views and perfect (not too hot) weather. Just under 6 hours car to car.
My 6th or 7th visit to the Pinnacles. Enjoy it more every time.

Route Climbed: Chalone Peak Trail
Finally, a day without rain! Took advantage of the break in the weather to climb North Chalone Peak. Despite the recent heavy rains the trail was in great condition with no mud. There was a small portion of the trail which was flooded at the resevoir, but it was easily by passed. Nice time of year for this hike- everything is green!
A nice hike we did from Pinnacles, did some bouldering and scrambling on the way up. Great views from the summit.

From Bear Gulch
Nice hike, well graded. Leave all the people at the Reservoir behind and go to North Chalone! We met a guy in the Bear Gulch parking lot who was going on a 30 mile trail run: up and over High Peaks, down to the West side, north wilderness trail, back to Bear Gulch, then out to North Chalone (which he called the "gut check" part) then back down with another loop through the High Peaks(?)! Anyways, he said he loves running there. It's humbling to meet people like that.
Decided I didn't want to drive all the way around to Bear Gulch and needed to get in a good hike, so I started from Chaparral on the West side. Started kinda late, 11:20am, and it was a little warm being June but some cloud cover helped about half way up to the summit. This is probably the toughest route as you have to climb over 1000 ft to reach the High Peaks Trail, then descend almost 900 ft back down to Bear Gulch Reservoir before climbing about 1750 ft to the summit. It really gets tough having to climb again after the inital 1750 descent to Bear Gulch Reservoir on the way back.
