we guestimatedapproximately 50 degrees in the more steep portions, could have been more or less though...but definitely pretty rugged.

may 2010I am thinking of doing Humphreys with a friend this may-ish. How far were you able to get in on the roads to the trail head last year? We have had a lot more snow this year I think. I am assuming the Buttermilks are all melted out by then. Thanks :)

Re: may 2010last year we were able to get waaaaaaay up there, i think to about 9600-10,000 feet if my altimeter was dead on. The buttermilks were melted out pretty low this year already, but that was before this storm came through. Which route were you guys thinking of doing? No matter which one it is, make SURE you have a HIGH clearance vehicle. After the boulders end, it gets buckwild!

ThanksThanks, not sure which route yet. I will call the climbing shop and check on the melt out. I'll post a report after we climb :)
Cheers, marie

Re: Great action shot! Thanks, granjero took the photo, so photo credits to him for an outstanding shot. I have an axe but am plunging it in that sticky icky (snow). I really want to go back to this mountain and climb the East Arete, sweet line! Thanks for the comment
