"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

Via North Peak WashA pleasant and easy hike with great views. North Peak Wash is all solid sandstone rock which makes for a fun scramble. The slideshow from our most recent trip up there is here: North Peak hike

Route Climbed: Trail Date Climbed: Nov 18, 2005Tagged this as an easy freebie on the way back from Bridge Mtn. There are some very cool views of Bridge Mtn on the hike to North Pk--it looks quite impressive from this angle. Well worth the sidetrip if heading to Bridge.

Route Climbed: Via North Peak Wash Date Climbed: December 4, 2005A group of seven on a brisk day. We took a short cut over to the top of Ice Box Canyon and looked straight down an est. 1200 feet.
Other summit dates: October 23, 2005 with my 8 year old and several others over the past few years. This peak is worth repeating.

Route Climbed: from Lovell Canyon up Rocky Gap Road Date Climbed: Nov. 12, 2004Parked my rental car on Lovell Canyon Road and hiked up Rocky Gap Road to Red Rock Summit. From there, it's easy to follow the trail on out to the summit of North Peak. Didn't see a single person all day. The west side of Rocky Gap Road is impassable to all but very highly modified 4WD's. Fantastic view looking down on the backside of Bridge Mountain. It was 40 degrees and windy on the summit, with the occasional flurry of small hailstones. This is an easy hike on a good road/trail, although there is a fair amount of elevation gain. Round trip distance of about 10 miles. This is a nice change of pace after you've been scrambling in the boulder-clogged canyons on the east face of the Red Rocks escarpment.
