Last summit of the day
This was my third and last summit of the day before hiking out. It had a nice view from the overlook of both Galehead Hut and South Twin, plus Franconia Ridge off to the west. Since I walked in from Lincoln Woods the river crossings on the way down came as a bit of a surprise. There is a herd path available to avoid two of the river crossings however.

On the way to south twin
Really great day for hiking and magnificent views. Feet got soaked in the river crossing though.

Easy hike from South Twin
I bagged this peak as part of a 1.5 day Pemi Loop trip where I bagged 10 4K summits in all (plus a few that didn't count). I started my second day from the AMC Hut in the saddle below Galehead and the 1mile to the summit of South Twin was a relentless climb of rocks to the summit. I was soaked in sweat by the time I hit my first of 6 summits for the day :-) North twin was an easy mile hike from South Twin that took me about 15 min each way.
Climbed out of where it was going to be in the 80's, to hang with great views and temps in the 60's, heavenly.

Pemi loop backpack
Did a Pemi Loop over 2.5 days with a couple of friends. Going counter clockwise, camped at Guyot and Garfield tent sites. Saw an awesome lightning over a town to the north storm from Garfield; got hailed on in a lightning storm on the way out on the last day. Had a bottle of Bowmore with us.

nice 'n easy
This was a nice, short hike from South Twin. There were some views from a ledge, but I didn't stay long because I had to get to the Garfield Ridge tentsite.

North Twin Mountain
Climbed with South Twin, West Bond, Bond and Guyot via the Twinway Trail from Galehead. A very pleasant walk in the woods between North Twin and its Southern, higher neighbor. No views at the summit but a short side trail led to an open ledge with fantastic views of the Pemigewasset Wilderness. A storm soon rolled in while descending back down to the Galehead Hut.

Lost
We got lost in really bad weather (fog, rain, sleet, and high winds driving it all right into our face)coming back from the Guyot lean-to. We must have missed the cut off as we were supposed to go back via the Zealand trail. By the time we realized where we were it was just as easy to hike over the Twins. Once we got to the trailhead we found a guy who was waiting for friends. Thank God that he took pity on us and drove us back to the Zealand parking area. Terrible weather, no wiews. But I got to knock them off my 4000 footer list.

wet on North Twin
I took the North Twin trail on a morning when it rained the night before. So I got all wet going through some thick scrub, and had to take my time because it was slippery. On the way up I did all three river crossings. One the way down I took the shortcut, which had some tree blowdowns that made you think a bit, but I found my way. The clouds were moving in and out all day. They stayed over Lincoln and Lafayette though, didn't want them to be seen.

Great way to start the day. I wound up loving the riving crossings at the beginning with the mountain cold water. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. The trails were just about deserted and we hardly ever saw another hiker. Great look out point prior to the summit.
