Park Entrance Fee

Park fee is now $6.00 per person. Not like the extra dollar makes a big differance.

Re: Park Entrance Fee

Thanks, banjobonch, for helping keep this page up to date. I've just adopted and done a complete overhaul on the page. Included in the updates are the (yet again!) increased entrance fees.

Cheers,
Sarah

Fees, Camping, and Reservations

The fee is now $7 per person.

There is also camping 7 miles away at Frontier Outpost and 13 miles away at Oxford Ranch. Both sites are privately owned. Fees are $10 and starting at $8 per night per person, respectively.

The state parks now have an online system for reserving day passes up to 30 days in advance.

Fees, etc.

(heh) Watching the price slowly go up in the corrections/additions. The entrance fees (Spring '21) are $8/person for day use, 12 and under are free. Camping is $18/night for sites with water, $14 primitive.

If you're coming from Austin, it might be quicker right now -- and bear with me since this will sound totally wrong -- to go take 71 thru Llano. I know, I know. But the traffic/civil engineering situation in Dripping Springs for last couple years is just batty, especially at after-school and afternoon rush hour (add 30min+). Plus whatever it is they're doing just west of Stonewall that they've been working on for how long now? They'll occasionally shut 290 down to one lane, you-go-I-go. So yeah, sounds dumb to say taking 71 to Llano is the fastest way right now, but here we are.

And, speaking from recent experience, call ahead to see if you'll even get in. They have closures that can catch you by surprise (hunting, scouting events, etc.), and the school-zone-style light just outside Fredericksburg indicating that the park is full or closed isn't always on when it should be. The park HQ is at (830) 685-3636. Call ahead, make reservations online, etc. The last few years have been really weird as far as the park getting more and more crowded. Have I said call ahead? Yeah, you should call ahead.

2022 Fee update

As of summer '22, entrance ($8) and primitive/hike-in camping ($14) are the same, but improved/walk-in sites are now $20/night. Also there is a $6/car fee per site if you have more than two cars, but I can't remember if that's always been the case or if it's a new fee.
