Munra Point

Adding to the directions already posted (I got lost w/ those) you take exit 40, turn right (south) and park at in the parking lot a short distance down the road to the right. Hike back up the road toward the off-ramp you just used and take the paved bridge across Tanner Creek to the left (west). You can also park at the end of the off-ramp before the stop sign to avoid parking in a fee area and find the bridge a short distance away, just to the right (south) of the stop sign. From the bridge, hike along the pavement until it starts to turn right an look along the left (south) side for Gorge Trail 400. The trail climbs up and then parallels the freeway, and can be overgrown w/ thorny weeds in the summer. You can cut this portion of the hike out, along with some distance, if you don't mind parking on the freeway... pull over when you see the sign that says "exit 40 in 1 mile" and and bushwhack your way up to the trail, or drive a little further and park by the next sign for exit 40 "Fish Hatchery, Sturgeon __?__" and park close to the sign. There is short access road (like 100 feet) that T's with Gorge Trail 400, join the trial head back along the freeway to the right (west). The trail heads up the mountain to the left (south) and is marked with an unmaintained trail sign posted high on a tree about 50 feet into the trail. From here, the trail stops messing around and goes straight up... very steep, virtually all 1800 feet of elevation gain in the last 1+ mile. It's all uphill from there! Be careful on the class 3/4 sections towards the top, the moves are pretty easy, but still present some risk.

Range?

Any way this page could be turned into a "Range"? Seems to be a duplicate page called "Columbia Gorge Peaks" out there too.

Re: Range?

I am not sure if we had the Areas/Ranges when I put this page together, but you are right, it would more likely be an "Area." You wouldn't know if there was a way to do that without having to recreate it entirely, would you? Also, I (selfishly) use this as a way to keep track of the hikes I've done there, I will have to check if there are summitlogs on Area pages, otherwise everyone's entries would disappear.

I'll check more into it though, thanks for your comment.

Brian
