On top of Mt. Silliman

On top of Mt. Silliman

This is me on top of Mt. Silliman on July 15, 2000 :) Mt. Whitney could just barely be spotted, the guitar shaped snowfield just to the right of center in the distance is "pointing" at it.

Outstanding panorama...

I always wondered where Whitney was located from this viewpoint. AWESOME! - The Range of Light!!! Is that Triple Divide Peak off to the far right? In 1994, I climbed Alta Peak southeast of here. Always amazing; the SIERRA scenery knocks my socks off! Cheers to you !!!

Re: Outstanding panorama...

I climbed Alta Peak a week after I climbed Silliman. They are sister peaks, within only a couple miles of each other and nearly the same height. But Alta has a trail to the top and Silliman does not.

You really know the Sierra...

Yes, Alta has a trail! But I climbed it early in the year, and ran into deep snow near it's summit. NOT COMPLAINING! The views were spectacular, AND even made a side trip to Moose Lake. Lots of marmots over there! THANK YOU !!!
(Always enjoy your photos & information.)

Sequoia here we come!

Be there in three weeks! First stop: Alta Peak, then across the Tablelands and down to Triple Divide via Moose Lake and Elizabeth Pass. I love that country!
