What a perspective!Great shot as is your whole set from Hood! Top of Oregon is fantastic spot ;-) This one reminds me of those Kilimanjaro summit shots where clouds are deep below.

Re: What a perspective!I like the way the snow blends perfectly with the clouds beyond, as if to say you could walk off the mountain and over the tops of the clouds to the infinite horizon.

Lucky bastardsOn the rare nice Winter day last week, as I was driving back from lunch, I wondered who took the day off to go climbing. Figured someone headed up Hood. Looks like it was you.
How was the snow above the top of the Palmer? Postholing up to your knees or did you use snow shoes or skin up?
Nice work catching the weather window.

Neither, actually. There was already a boot track from earlier that day and from the previous day. Even if there hadn't been, it would only have meant breaking trail through several inches of unconsolidated snow. The snowpack had settled a great deal over the past couple weeks.

BeautifulBeautiful shot. Gives a real sense of the altitude you are at, when you look down and see tiny trees showing through the clouds. Great use of "depth-of-field".
