Great conditioning hike  Sucess!

Was great to take the PCT 1/3rd of the way instead of the jeep road. There was decent solitude at the summit until the transmission station started to bust a gasket. Amazing junipers.

Easy hike

We took the PCT from the highway parking area to the dirt road. Saw two deer as we approached the summit.

From Onyx Summit via Fire Road  Sucess!

Since Sugarloaf had not provided enough of a workout, completed the day by doing a quick walk on the fire road to the summit of Onyx. Very flat and crowded by antennas, but good views east and west where unobstructed.

Nuther Niner  Sucess!

Gotta be the easiest Niner in SoCal but who cares. Was looking for a nice place to eat lunch after hiking Whitney the previous day. Nice views and cool cedars on the summit (towers...not so cool).

Skinned it!  Sucess!

Felt great to get on skis, however late this season. Dave, Blair and I skinned to summitted, had a snack then slipped back down the service road. Not too exciting but the views were great for planning some gangsta snow sessions when the REAL snow gets here. :/

Chest Aching  Sucess!

I was running later than planned, and I needed to be in San Diego by about 5:30 PM. I knew that I had to find a peak with a gentle ascent. I had to haul my out-of-shape low-elevation heinie up the mountain more quickly than usual at a higher elevation than I'm used to. Everything worked out; got some lovely views, signed the summit register, had a nice drive down Route 38, and made it to San Diego on time. My chest was still aching at sea level when I went to bed, but it was worth it!

Molly and Me  Sucess!

Hiked to the peak with my dog Molly. We actually hiked up the snow filled drain (straight at the three way split for 1N01), then came back down on the road. Rewarding views of the high valley, Lake Baldwin, and San Gorgonio Mtn. The Junipers on top are an awesome sight.

Towers and Junipers  Sucess!

What a comibination on the summit. Communications equipment and huge junipers hundreds of years old. Also found two survey markers. One pointed to the other.
