45F waterI liked Orderville. Unfortunately, I didn't have a wetsuit, and the water was 45F, so I did a lot of jumping up and down and punching the air to fend off hypothermia.

Re: 45F waterI don't think I would have been liking it much in those conditions. ;) What month did you go?
It's okay in the summer, but yeah... the rest of the time it can be painful without a wetsuit! In the spring I will hike to the end of the Riverside Walk Trail and put my feet it... it's amazing how COLD that water can be!

Re: 45F waterIt was Memorial Day 2006, but the temperature at the lodge that day was just ~73F. I expected warmer water. I was told the temperature estimate after the fact; I'm not sure I believe it.

Re: 45F waterThe rangers should have given some beta when you picked up your permit... as to the temperature of the water.... that had to be miserable. In May that water is sooooooo COLD! The best times to go are mid-June to mid-September when the water is warmer.
