"So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life."

Awesome mountainA glorious hike. I lost the trail around 7400' and went up the wrong talus field. Found a way to make it work and rejoined the trail at 8000'. Outstanding views in all directions. This the first peak I flew a drone on, got some decent aerials.

Owens Peak trailThis was tougher than expected. The best part for me was climbing the slabs to the right of the upper trail.

Nice climbHiked Owens from the PCT (after bagging Morris and Jenkins) via the southwest ridge. Followed a faint use trail that turned into sporadic class 2 sections. You can find some fun class 3 moves that aren't necessary on the way up. Approx 1,400' of gain in ~1 mile.

Last of FourWindy the night before, but mild and cool the day of the climb. Little snow seen anywhere, even in the distant High Sierra.

Indian Wells CanyonLost the trail around 6,600’ on the way up, but the bushwhack wasn’t too bad. Found a very obvious use trail on the way down. Nice way to close out my “Southern Sierra” SPS peaks.

PCT from Walker PassNice wildflowers, fresh snow, jogging, and the bit of scrambling made this more interesting than it would have been otherwise. Expansive views.

PCT from Walker PassMuch hotter day than I was expecting. Ridge route from the Owens saddle was well ducked.
Pics and commentary are here.

No snowA dry period mid-winter. Only three weeks into the new year, and the register had already been signed by fifteen parties, some of them large.

Birthday ClimbClimbed up on a very windy day; mixed class 2/3 along the way, higher up. Tried in vain to climb around very steep rock along NW slopes, ended up climbing the black talus to the top and descending a chute further north. Great day!

New Year's Rez AchievedMy resolution for 2013 was to climb 5 peaks to recover my knee and start seeing the local mountains. This was the last one I did for that resolution (but not for the year) with my now fiancee.

Indian WellsThe drive in from Indian Wells isn't bad at all at the moment. Low clearance might even make it using extreme care in just a couple brief spots near the end... for high clearance it is like a highway. Enjoyed the trail, very short and very steep. Much more shade than I anticipated which was a nice plus. Excellent views. Visited Trona Pinnacles in the afternoon and the next day took off for some OHVing on the Bonanza Trail.

Via PCTStarted at Walker Pass Campground with some PCT thru hiker friends, they went as far as the saddle with me, then I turned off and went up the peak. I lost the use trail near what I thought was the top and went too far left and ended up on the rocky knob below the summit. I scrambled up the far NW corner, only realizing it wasn't the summit when I got to the top of it. Then I scrambled along that ridge to the east and hiked up to the true summit. Coming down I mistakenly took the wrong trail which was to the east of the use trail I wanted, so bushwhacked over to that and then saw where I lost the trail on the way up. Had an uneventful return after that.

From Walker Pass via PCTCruising the PCT to the base of the summit ridge, then a surprisingly complex scramble to the top. Fabulous views of the Whitney Crest to the north, as well as in all directions.
