Good trail to the lookout, then well-cairned and steep use trail to the summit. The view would have been nicer with less smoke. Met a mother black bear and 2-3 cubs on the way down, my only bear encounter so far in Canada.

This was the 7th peak of our hiking extravaganza. A nice easy hike after doing a few harder ones. Kane's book says it's about an hour from the false summit to the true summit. That's total nonsense. It's only 5 minutes away.

A small trip to kick off Canada Day. I once tried this peak on snowshoes but a fierce winter storm came in near the lookout. This time it was an easy hike on a beautiful summer day.

I scrambled up in August - I know this is a ski ascent page, but this is a nice place to try on your first day in Yoho. The view of the glaciers, crags and Kicking Horse river from the top was jaw dropping. I honestly think I could have gone home happy with just that view.

Wonderful views of Cathedral Crags
Summited with three friends after a lot of routefinding and potholing (even with snowshoes) in the forest. Found a sort of small snowcave at the summit.
I made this a long day, of piddling with my equipment, snacking and bathing in the sun. Skiing any slope like this has its many hazards, particularly solo. Be safe!

ScrambleAnother amazing day in Yoho. This is a special place for me - near where I did my first hikes in the mountains and full of great memories!
