Panorama of Nocarani (5784m) from high on Chachani
Cerro Nocarani (some sources give it the name Nocarane) is not a well known mountain and doesn't appear on too many maps. When I first saw it, a week or two earlier, and asked one of the locals its name, I was told it was Chachani. Well, it's part of the Chachani massive alright, which is why it is so often overlooked, but it's definitely a separate peak. Its summit lies about 7km north of that of Chachani. Judging by Google Maps, the saddle between the two lies at about 5050m, giving Nocarani more than 700m prominence. In fact, on the normal route to Chachani, you'll pass this saddle coming from the east!
By the way, did you notice the curvature of the earth?
