good hike and bike  Sucess!

pleasant early summer weather. Very little snow left. Scott and I mountain biked the first couple of miles which was quite fun and relatively easy. From there, occasional navigational issues even with a GPS but we eventually got to the base of the mountain. We more or less followed the south ridge but usually not along the actual crest. Near the summit, a large cliff forced us more onto the west face where dwarf trees and steep terrain made for a bit of class 3 scrambling and route finding. There are remains of a triangulation station on top and good views of the Gospel Hump, Seven Devils and Lick Creek Ranges. Very pretty country, lots of flowers, not nearly as much deadfall as other areas around McCall.
