Re: pretty cool placeI did not buy a fish eye yet, mostly because I own a camera with the APC-S sensor (20D), which means that every standard lense has a focal length of 1.6x from its regular size. This photo is taken with 17-40mm lense at 17mm, which really means 27mm with my camera. I almost bought a 10-22mm lense for the APC-S sensors but Canon announced their new full-frame dSLR (5D). So I will be saving pennies for the body instead of buying lenses that will ultimately become obsolete. Frankly, I am not a huge fan of fish eye effects; instead I LOVE straight ultra-wide angle. If I can shoot with true 16-17mm, I will be a happy camper!

Re: pretty cool placea) I am not a pro (yet, anyway)
b) How do you know? You can't possibly know all pro outdoor action photographers and what they own :)
c) One of the factors that makes a photographer succesful is his/her uniqueness. You can make a unique photo with any kind of lense, as long as it is relatively good quality.
Fish-eye has a special purpose and a lot of times (or most of the times) it does not work for a scene. Many people don't like the fish eye effect, myself included. I'd take ultra wide angle over fish-eye any day.
What's the purpose of your last post, anyway?

Re: pretty cool placeThanks Rob. You do have to climb it. It is simply incredible. I will do it again next year... this is a 'once a year' type of climb for me.

Re: pretty cool placeThis is getting strange......Oh, and fisheye's distort. Isn't a good picture a true and accurate representation of the power and emotion of a moment?

Knife edge.Geez, dude, what an intensely sweet shot, fish-eye lense or no. Talk about the definition of a "knife's edge" ridge! Hey, nice profile picture, too. Keep up the good work.
