Pennsylvania is Pure Pleasure
Pennsylvania was a reminder to me why I hike. It was a pleasant and short stroll. The views were amazing in all directions. I have to remember that its not always about peak bagging, but enjoying what you are doing.

Pennsylvania Mountain
Kim and I headed for Pennsylvania Mountain to climb it, but Kim had a headache so she stopped at point 12,871. Interestingly, it seems that most people stop at that point as there were many people on the mountain, but I was the only one to sign the summit register that day.
It was a nice hike, but there was a lot of smoke in the air. That could be the reason for Kim's headache.

Crazy weather day
Light drizzle, grapple and even snow flurries on the summit. Clouds looked like they meant business. Stayed 5 minutes & booked.

from Pica Trailhead
very windy day. The first summit had register, the 2nd summit - the higher one I did not find one, but there was a lot of snow covering the cairn.
I was able to drive all the way to Pica TH in my subaru.
2nd (12/7/19): Started from the Pika trailhead (public access on Prunes Ct), plowed to trailhead but drifted at the parking lot. Deep snow in the trees, needed snowshoes, but wind scoured up high and able to go without flotation or traction. Windy day!
3rd (10/30/21): Southeast Slopes from end of Mountain View Drive, not much early season snow.
4th (3/19/23): Southeast Slopes from end of Mountain View Drive, enough soft snow to keep the snowshoes on but probably could have gotten away without.

Pennsylvania Mtn with Evans-B and Dyer Mtn
Really came to do the scramble from Evans-B to Dyer Mtn, but saw Pennsylvania Mtn beckoning. Was a lightning fast side trip. Used Sacramento Creek trail head.

Shuttle hike with Evans B
I hiked up Pennsylvania Mtn via its standard SE ridge route (after taking a long time to find the TH), then down its west ridge and up Evans B. Was going to add London with Shawn (who was doing the ridge from Tweto to Repeater) and down to his car on Mosquito Pass Rd, but he skipped Arkansas which put him way ahead of schedule.

Warm winter day
Short hike, weather was amazing for january, sunny in mid 30ies, no wind. I needed short hike after fighting cold, Pennsylvania was perfect!

Mosquito continues!
Great holidays that I spent in the mountains. First day, I hiked Jacque Peak and Pennsylvania Mountain. It was very smoky that day, first glimpse on the fire season. View of Tenmiles are great.

Nice Warm-up for Sherman!
Staying on public lands makes this easy hike a bit of a lung-burner! Great conditions on Tuesday, but smoky haze obstructed some of the long-distance views. Easy access from the end of Mountain View Drive and really convenient if you need to stretch out prior to Sherman.

starting with plan E
hiked pennsylvania to kickoff winter 2011. snow levels in the mosquitoes were much higher than i've ever seen, and that led to an absurd amount of wallowing all the way to the ridge at 12,300'. ridge was much easier until the plateau 12,800'-12,950' where lots of snow had collected forcing me to posthole a majority of the way to the summit.

Evans, Pennsylvania
Parking below London Mountain the wife, pup and I hiked Evans and Pennsylvania. Holy hell crossing the snowy willows, sans snowshoes, from Pennsylvania back to the road was miserable!!

a little problem...
One of our group had a problem and ended up getting injured, so our day finished a little more negative than it began, but it was still a fun day(see mtnhiker13's report from that day).

SE Ridge
We were mostly able to avoid the snow today or just suffer through short bouts of postholing, though right around timber line / willow death line we needed our snow shoes for a few minutes to get past deep drifts. Elk were all over the place on this mountain, and we saw a small herd, themselves postholing, through the snowfields. Cloudy day, so the views were limited but the views we enjoyed were dramatic thanks to the cloud cover. Hiking partner: Deb.
