Was not a fan of the described traverse, found it annoyingly steep and loose. But it's probably the fastest way to get both peaks. Got to see the infamous Sierra wave before hiking out in snow showers the next day. This peak is way back there but it's a good one!

Day 2 of a backpack. Descended to Rodgers Lake, then dropped my pack, went up the west side of Regulation, and continued to Pettit before returning via the lake's south shore. Trip report.

Traverse from Volunteer
Followed Holliman's directions. Tedious boulder-hopping -- took me about 2.5 hours each way.

Twin Lakes
A very long two day trip from Twin Lakes. Camped at the highest lake north of the peak (very scenic and warm enough for swimming), then up to watch the sunrise on the summit. Then over to Volunteer and Piute, rained pretty much the entire way out.

From Tuolumne Meadows
A long, 18hr dayhike out of Tuolumne Meadows via Return Creek, proving that it is probably not the fastest way to reach the peak. Trip Report

Volunteer-Pettit dayhike out of the Virginia Lakes TH, a tough outing. Not necessarily the most aesthetic peak from almost any vantage point, but the views were superb. Last person to sign in was up there exactly a year ago to the day.
